Messrs. Andrew Hobbs and Randy Mitchell - two distinquished members of Wilmington Country Club in Delware and
parents of three junior golfers on the US Kids Golf tour felt that it was time for parents and friends to raise the bar
in helping to make our junior golfers realize just how lucky they are - compared to so many other less fortunate kids around us -
to be able to play golf regularly and competitively.
They heard Vijah Singh's 2008 challenge - "I am donating $5,000 to St. Jude Children's Hospital for every eagle
I make this year. What are you doing?". They are therefore stepping up to Vijay's challenge by donating
a few cents themselves, for each par-or-better hole scored, on behalf of each child playing
this year in the Pennysvania US Kids Golf tour, up to a maximum of $2000 total for all players. By doing this, they are
also challenging other parents, friends and families to further raise the bar by doing the same for their children.
Messrs Hobbs and Mitchell also strongly believe that giving kids something tangible and meaningful to compete for
on a hole-by-hole basis will go a long way in solidifying character and social awareness values for our future adults. They are also hoping
that other well-wishers and organizations will not only do it for their own kids - but also for all the kids or an identifiable group of kids.
